The Ultimate iPhone 6 Case Comparison Review between Spigen Tough Armor and other ZeroLemon/Spigen/Ringke/SupCase/i-blason case

This is the ultimate case comparison review! I ordered a iPhone 6 128Gb Gold for your reference. Given it cost me nearly 1000 dollars to purchase unlocked, I am going to need to keep this phone in the best condition possible.

Please click Yes if you find this review.

Little bit about myself: I'm a major tech geek using Amazon Fire Phone / Samsung Galaxy S5 for business / iPad Air / Lenovo Carbon X1 as my daily drivers. I plan to replace the Amazon Fire Phone with the iPhone 6 since my iPad Air does pretty well with my personal stuff.

I prefer cases with at least 2 layers of products (hard plastic and soft shell). Single layer product provides very weak strctural support and one phone drop can destroy your 1000 dollars iPhone which is seriously not worth it. My advice is to pony up a bit more money to get the appropriate case.

I currently purchased a wide range of phone cases for comparison and to see which one of these I will be using as my ultimate daily driver.

They are:

Spigen Tough Armor (dual layer)

ZeroLemon Razor Armor (dual layer)

Supcase Unicorn Beetle (dual layer)

iBlason Armorbox (dual layer)

Otterbox Defender (preordered) (triple layer)

Spigen Neo Hybrid (dual layer)

Spigen Slim Armor (dual layer)

ZeroLemon Protector Rugged Case (Triple Layer)

***Important Note: At the moment I am reviewing the case quality only! The fitment of the case will be reviewed after I received my preordered phone on the 19th

Ok, now lets get to the comparison review!

Design:

This Spigen Case is very well designed. Very nice large buttons for easy access and nice fitting between the gunmetal gray hard plastic and the softshell soft plastic. The soft plastic back have raised corners which allows the case to avoid scratches on the hard plastic surface.

Design of this case is very similar to ZeroLemon Razor Armor which I also purchased in blue. With the ZeroLemon Razor Armor case, there are two corners which allows better protection than the Spigen Tough Armor.

Compare to SupCase and iBlason, this Tough Armor is thinner profile and feels more smooth. The iBlason and SupCase seems a bit too big for two layer protection and with the jagged back that doesn't provide a smooth feel to the phone.

Quality:

I use the tough armor on my old iPhone 5 and the quality is very similar. You cannot go wrong with this if you treat the case with slight care. However, the hard plastic seems suspectible to key scratches as I have the same issue with my old iPhone 5 case. With the same hard plastic material used, I have a feeling this maybe similar.

Compared to ZeroLemon Razor Armor quality (which is the closest looking case to Tough Armor), the quality of both cases is very similar. You cannot go wrong with either cases. However, ZeroLemon case has a much tighter gap closure between the end of the hard shell and the soft case shell on the backside compare to the Tough Armor. There's a small gap for the Tough Armor which doesn't provide the seamless hand feel as compared to ZeroLemon Case.

Fitment:

Since the phone is still a week away from release date, I cannot test this out yet. I will update this section as soon as the phone arrives and compare fitment between the tough armor versus other cases I have. I will also be testing out the buttons / port access/ camera effects (if any) by the case

Color:

There are a variant of colors for iPhone 6 tough armor. However, the color variation seems a bit dull compare to Verus or ZeroLemon or i-Balson which includes all the bright yellow and pink color.

Tough Armor also is on the low end # of color selection of 7 compared to Verus of 9 / ZeroLemon of 8 color choices.

Price:

Here is the breakdown of prices for the dual layer cases I got for + shipping to my home:

Spigen Tough Armor (dual layer) -22.99

ZeroLemon Razor Armor (dual layer) - 18.68

Supcase Unicorn Beetle (dual layer) - 19.99

iBlason Armorbox (dual layer) - 19.97

As you can see, the highest price dual layer is Spigen Tough Armor at 23 dollars and the lowest price dual layer case is the Zerolemon Razor Armor (Extra 15-20% of price for Spigen Tough Armor on average compared to other branded cases).

Conclusion (3/5):

This case proves to be a great choice for longtime Spigen user such as myself. It provides the same quality as their previous cases which is a good thing in this case which you can trust.

However, the gap between the hardplastic and the soft shell on the back (knock off 1 star) and the extra 20% in price compare to other cases knocks it off another 1 star. A good alternative choice for people looking for similar style case will be the ZeroLemon Razor Armor or Verus Thor.

Thanks for checking out this review. I wil update this again once the phone arrives. Hope this gives you a better idea of how the cases are like.
